  • 24/9 Kytons Bakery run…  yummy fresh bakery products to enjoy
  • mid October Exclusive Eyewear Launch.. the latest Roberto Cavali range of glasses
  • 24/10 The Lion Hotel RSB Charity BBQ – warm weather, hot snags and great company!

Now back to my planning :)

I attended the second of my Frontline Management workshops on Wednesday – Team Effectiveness.   We did some really interesting stuff but what stuck out to me was definition of leadership styles.  After completing a test it turns out I’m a ‘Director / Eagle’ with a strong second style of the ‘Dove – Considerate’…     each style was associated with a bird which helps to remember.

Here’s the quick run-down:

Dove - Considerate Dove: ‘ Considerate’ The compassionate and peaceful dove. The dove is people-orientated, loyal, friendly, hard working and a great team player but tends to avoid change, confrontation, risk-taking and assertiveness.

Owl - Analyst Owl: ‘Analyst’  The wise owl. The owl is logical, mathematically minded, methodical and sometimes seen as a perfectionist. The owl can be slow to make decisions and inflexible if rules and logic says otherwise. Owls are not big risk takers but love detail.

Peacock - Enthusiastic Peacock: The showy peacock. The peacock loves talking, being the centre of attention, has passion/ enthusiasm and is happy/ optimistic. Peacocks can be accused of talking too much, and aren’t good with detail or time-control.

Eagle - Director Eagle: ‘Director’ The bold eagle. Eagles are dominant, stimulated by challenge, decisive and direct. Eagles can be blunt/ stubborn, can lose sight of the big-picture and can be insensitive to other people’s needs. Eagles are natural achievers.

Great learnings…   and good fun too.
My thank you’s this week go to Lynn Walker for helping me nut out a daily activities list, Liz Nicholls for her session on Liz’s Planning Principles, Iain Thomson for explaining projects in plain english and Tania Quast for going through my project plans and giving me some great ideas and tips.

So I’ve had my first Developmental Workshop and met our great trainer, Ian Wilson from the Australian Institute of Management. We covered the topic ‘Effective Workplace Relationships’ – filled with plenty of interesting stories and experinces from our team and Ian.

I’m still trying to get my head around exactly what my Business Improvement Project will be – and how to raise money for the RSB. The more I talk to people the more ideas I get which is great.. now it’s just a matter of getting a plan into place and making them happen.
