I’m writing this post with not a little smile on my face.. thinking about how successful last night’s charity BBQ was! Thanks to everyone who came along and said hi, offered support, bought a snag, sorted money, sold raffle tickets and made my night. I haven’t counted the cash yet however I’m sure we made quite a bit of money for the RSB which is just fantastic.

I couldn’t have asked for better weather, or a more awesome crowd of people. The Lion were very happy with my efforts as well, they say that’s the best charity BBQ they’ve had so far which was pleasing. Of course it’s all good for them as they get the profits from the bar tab! I’m going to have a chat with the manager and see if we can’t lock in another event for 2009… perhaps with a slightly different twist on it. Will keep you posted.

Raffle winners, you lucky people, are as follows:

  • First Prize (Stationery Gift Hamper) Sharon Fenwick
  • Second Prize {Carton of Coopers Pale Ale) Anne Jeffrey
  • Third Prize (Chocolate Fondue set) Raelene Scott
  • Fourth Prize (Coffee set) Bonnie Woolford

In the meantime I have a couple of thankyou’s to some great people. Firstly, Andrew from A1 Apparel… Andrew has helped us out here at Capgemini with providing some fantastic work shirts. So I had a chat to him about my fundraising and he kindly donated me 6 custom printed t-shirts! They look great, and they help market my team at events. HUGE thanks to Andrew and if you need anything done in the clothing / promotional item line make sure you give him a buzz.

Secondly, a big thanks to Corporate Express. They provide our stationery here at work and were kind enough to donate a fantastic stationery gift hamper! I used this in my raffle last night and to be honest I didn’t really want to give it away…. but I’m sure Sharon will enjoy it.

So a big tick for my first event, now onto the next…. coming up is the Christmas Pageant where Melissa and I are holding a BBQ… and soon after that, a movie night for ‘Australia’… more details to come, keep checking back.

Hi All,

I’ve got an upcoming fundraising event which falls on Friday the 24th October. As part of my YBL fundraising over the next 8 months this BBQ is a relatively easy gig for me – The Lion Hotel provides the venue and the food, what I need to do is provide the people and the atmosphere!

Please help me to spread the word of this event – mention it to your family, friends and networks. If you’re heading out for a drink on Friday night anyway, make it The Lion and support the RSB.

Hope to see you there and thanks for your support.
