Participant – Young Business Leaders SA (YBL) Program 2008/2009

I’ve had lots of interest coming my way recently so I thought I’d take this opportunity to update you all on where I’m at with the YBL Program.

  • Unbelievably, there’s only 8 weeks to go.  Where did the last 8 months of my life go??  I’m not sure (neither are my friends or family as they haven’t seen me.)
  • As a final push towards my fundraising goal I’m running:
  • McLaren Vale Cheese & Wine Tour – 4th April.  I’ve sold my 60 seater bus, very exciting and it’s going to be a great day.
  • Fridays After Five @ The Lion Hotel – 1st May.  The Lion have asked me to return after our very successful fundraiser last October.  This time, no sausages but instead we all catch up for a  celebratory drink (YBL nearly complete!) and enjoy some nibbles & great company.
  • The RSB Monster Raffle drawn 5th May 
  • My Business Improvement Project is nearing completion
  • 29th May is my deadline for everything..   the trick, I’m told, is to have it ready a week beforehand so that there’s no panic on that last day
  • During early June I’ll be presenting to the YBL Panel of Judges…   they’ll learn about me, Capgemini, my projects, my fundraising, and most importantly what I’ve learnt about leadership
  • The YBL Gala Dinner and awards presentation is Saturday 27th June
  • I’ll be taking a month holiday in July as a little reward (so looking forward to this)

I can’t thank you all enough for your support so far and hope that you can help me through the next 8 weeks in style and with a sense of fun!

Under 10 weeks to go until my YBL journey is finished… unbelievable how quickly this has all happened!

Over the remainder of the YBL program I am happy to be working hard with 3 final events…  

  • 4th April – McLaren Vale Cheese & Wine Tour
  • April / May – The RSB Monster Raffle with 30 prizes up for grabs
  • 1st May – The Lion Hotel ‘Fridays After Five’ Charity Celebration

Of course while all this is happening I’ll be pulling together 2 executive reports detailing my experiences through completing my Business Improvement Project (Leadership Insight) and my Community Involvement Project (all the fundraising you’ve been supporting me with).

I’ll also work on a final presentation to deliver to the YBL judging panel in early June.  So much to do….   here’s where my newly discovered planning and time management skills come into play.

Over the weekend I was lucky enough to be interviewed by Peter Greco from community radio station 1197am RPH Adelaide in his Leisure Lifestyle program. Here I was thinking I wouldn’t know what to say and I easily chatted for nearly 6 minutes! I’ve uploaded an mp3 so you can listen if you’re interested.
